A confluence of beauty, fashion & style, the grand finale of the India Luxury Style Week was a spectacular affair as the most popular designers from the fashion fraternity showcased their Avant Garde collections and dramatic interpretations for the hottest trends in menswear fashion.
From trendsetting runway magic to celebrating style statements, the five day fashion extravaganza brought together the most coveted names, which breathe new energy into the season’s theme and revolutionised the idea of fashion for men!
Designer Surya Sarkar from Kolkata opened the show at the grand finale of the IFSW, with a collection titled ‘Broken Story’. Using cotton as the base for the garments, he showcased minimalistic 3D cutwork inspired by the Alpona art from Kolkata and the collection included short jackets, sherwanis and Indian inspired ensembles in pastel shades and the classic colors of black & white.
Presenting a amalgamation of the Indian royal look with a western style, designer Punesh Chopra showcased a collection which was creative and wearable, with could be carried with easy and comfort, understated yet glamours..Bold colors like red, blue, golden, white and black dominated the color pallet, with the garments heavily using hand painted designs, further highlighted with embroidery to enhance the look giving it a traditional look.
Designer Ken Ferns from Mumbai showcased his collection called “Soda” – an extended men’s Luxury resort and Summer line..Soda being the perfect blender and the soda representing the energy – the fizz-the outburst – it was his inspiration for this funky and urban collection which widely used geometric forms. The garments ranging from jumpsuits, sheer shirts, liberally played with prints and quirky styles, a mix and match of color and cuts, balanced and blended by the perfect mix of SODA.
Designer Kshitij Choudhary launched his namesake label and flagship store in 2014 and has always encouraged avant garde designer wear.. For the ILSW, he presented a diffusion line…’A wake up call from the slumber’, a collection which targets the modern urban man’s rigidity in the most sublime way. The mood of his collection was urban, upbeat and sexy yet it has the organic essence of india and the fabrics used are chanderi silk, raw silk and pure khadi. After receiving innumerable accolades for her edgy menswear designs as fashion director to Mr. World 2016 & Mr. Supranational 2016 to a sensational Spring Summer 2017 collection showcased at London Fashion Week early this year, designer Nivedita Saboo showcased a new-age military-samurai saga, unveiled at the Grand Finale of ILSW. Capturing the essence of strong culture and a disciplined way of life, this collection was the perfect juxtaposition of drape with structure. It consisted of Hakama Pants paired with fitted jackets styled by detachable Haori-inspired capes that channelize the contemporary Military-Samurai philosophy. The clever use of texture with varied checks and leather detailing is evocative of cool urban ninjas that hold integrity closest to their hearts. It’s a canvas that displayed varying earthy tones that are easy, breezy yet confident and embraces camouflage colours of khaki turning into ash gray going into charcoal.
From eggshell, beige, bark, fawn, sedona and sun kissed hay, this spring-summer menswear collection was edgy, laidback and fit for every man and his alter-ego. Actors Harshvardhan Rane & Gaurav Chopra were the befitting showstoppers for the grand finale as they walked the ramp in a super stylish avatar and high handed oomph..
