Ali Fazal: It was great to connect with the team of Fukrey after 4 years

Ali Fazal who delivered a hit last year with Happy Bhag Jayegi in 2016 is all set to feature in the upcoming comedy film Fukrey Returns. The film is a sequel to the 2013 film Fukrey and has a starcast of actors like Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadda, Varun Sharma and Manjot Singh. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, Fukrey Returns shall release on December 8.

In an interview with Cinespeaks, actor Ali Fazal speaks to us.

Speaking on his character in Fukrey Returns, Ali said, “My character in this film is far more fleshed out and brilliantly written. The character is more mature now and has a significant contribution in the overall film. I really enjoyed playing the role as it was really amazing to connect with everyone after around 4 years. It was great to work with Richa Chadda and Pulkit Samrat once again.”

When we questioned him whether the film is really a sequel to Fukrey, Ali said, “Fukrey Returns is the definition of what a sequel actually means. The film takes off one year after from where it had ended in Fukrey. So, it is completely in sync with Fukrey and the character’s. We have not made Fukrey Returns just for sake of making a sequel or a franchise. The film also addresses an important social phenomenon which is prevalent in today’s times.”

On his working experience with international actors, Ali said, “I really loved working with Jeff Bridges. We had a lot of fun while I was in his company. We bonded over dinner for about 5 long hours. I had similar and amazing experiences with Vin Diesel and The Rock. I really got to learn a lot from them and it pushed me to perform better and better. ”

Post the release of Fukrey Returns, Ali will be seen in Mirzapur which is produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment. The talented actor will also be seen playing a titular role in an upcoming biopic film whose details are not yet revealed.
