Featuring a powerful ensemble cast of Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Divyendu Sharma among others, Mirzapur is both intriguing and relatable at the same time.
Set to release today, the show had managed to create enough curiosity among the audience with its power-packed and they certainly cannot wait any longer.
The synopsis of the Karan Anshuman directorial reads, “The iron-fisted Akhandanand Tripathi is a millionaire carpet exporter and the mafia don of Mirzapur. His son, Munna, is an unworthy, power-hungry heir who will stop at nothing to inherit his father’s legacy. An incident at a wedding procession forces him to cross paths with Ramakant Pandit, an upstanding lawyer, and his sons, Guddu and Bablu. It snowballs into a game of ambition, power and greed that threatens the fabric of this lawless city.”
Doesn’t it sound interesting?
Also, anybody who has lived or ever been to Purvanchal will be able to identify with the setting of the show as the makers have effectively captured the essence of the city.
It is not very often that we come across a story that is so deeply rooted in small-town India and Mirzapur is one such rarity. The real locations coupled with superlative performances of the actors make for a gripping watch and we are sure that the web series will find a connect with the audience.
The genre of the web series will appeal to the masses as it is best suited for the digital medium where there is no censor board. This helps in telling a story as it is without making any sort of compromises.
Mirzapur has been backed by Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani who are known to have an eye for good content. They have previously bankrolled Vivek Oberoi’s hit show Inside Edge which also streamed on Amazon Prime Video. Therefore, the expectations have doubled from the duo this time.
With everything going in its favor so far, Mirzapur is expected to be a massive success and set higher benchmarks for upcoming Indian web shows.
