She wanted to provide a direct platform to those weavers who lose their earnings to mediators, who care less for their benefit and indulge in monopoly. For her noble cause, Nikhat Mariyam Neerushaa was awarded with the honorable Dada Saheb Phalke Award titled ‘Heritage Indian Textile Reviver’ for her selfless contribution towards the revival of Indian textile heritage has been recognized.
On receiving the Award, she said, “I’m extremely honored and happy that i am receiving this award. Dada Saheb is a very big and a respected name in India. To receive an award named after him is a matter of great recognition. I have earned multiple awards and laurels in the entertainment industry but the category for this award has made me even more happy. I have just started working towards this cause through the brand ‘Neerushaa – The Roots Of India’ and wish to receive more recognition for the cause as it gives a sense of great achievement. This means to me a lot”.
