This Father’s Day, TV actors tell us who they would want to play their fathers on screen.
Abraam Pandey: I will have to say Akshay Kumar Sir. I would love to play his son in my first Bollywood movie. I know it’s all fantasy as he doesn’t look old or even like a father on screen. But my father has always taught me to live like a gentleman and he is the perfect gentleman in Bollywood. He has done some amazing movies and I have grown up, watching and admiring his work.
Sehban Azim: It’s strange when I come to think of any actor who can justify the role of my father… most of the actors who I would have loved to choose have passed away. My first preferences would have been Guru Dutt and Sunil Dutt. If I have to choose, I would say, Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra, because nobody else can justify the amount of calmness and simplicity my father had in his aura, eyes and the voice.
Sharad Malhotra: Undoubtedly Mr. Amitabh Bachchan as he is literally and figuratively like a father figure to me and millions of others. One of my favourite films is ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, as the father-son relationship is beautifully showcased in the film.
Jasmin Bhasin: I have to say Amitabh Bachchan because I believe he is one of the finest actors we have and his excellence will help me also to perform my best.
Shivani Gosain: If I get the opportunity to do a film, I dream of Amitabh Bachchan playing my father. It will be like working with a living legend and learning at the same time.
Ayyaz Ahmed: I have worked with Shakal Sheikh but unfortunately, he is no more. He would have been a perfect choice for my Bollywood film.
Shashank Vyas: I would have to choose Amitabh Bachchan and the reasons are obvious. There is no actor who is finer and better than him. I only want the best to play my father on screen.
Vikas Grover: My favourite on-screen father-son duo is Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. They have always created magic on screen and have moved the strongest of hearts. However, I would love to have Anil Kapoor play the role of my father. He has an infectious energy and is known to make everybody; staff and strangers alike, burst out laughing on the sets. He takes in a lot of effort to perfect the way he looks, his body language and the way he delivers dialogues. As an actor, I go by my instincts to make a choice, and somehow I feel he feels the same way. Hence it becomes easier to communicate with like-minded people and bring out the best onscreen.
