Back in 2013, Fukrey introduced us to newbie actor’s in the industry who delivered a sleeper hit. Fukrey was a total comedy with middle class humour and sensibilities which received so much warmth and appreciation from the audience that it released once again in Delhi on public demand. Four years on, the sequel to Fukrey has hit the theatres today with the same starcast reprising their character’s. An additional character now in Fukrey Returns is a Tiger. Produced by Excel Entertainment who is known for backing amazing content driven projects and directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, let us Review Fukrey Returns.
Story: The film kicks off with a flashback song letting us to have a brief insight into the story of the first part. Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadda) who was sent to jail in the prequel is now out with the help from a politician Babulal Bhatia. The Fukra Gang – Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal, Varun Sharma and Manjot Singh are all leading their normal lives. Bholi is out now with a revenge against the Fukra Boys. So, the rest of the story is a mixture of hilarious comedy scenes revolving around the character’s.
Richa Chadda as Bholi Punjaban is the same badass Delhi girl in Fukrey Returns. She has retained the essence of her character and has successfully reprised her character. Richa is a powerful actor and her swag is absolutely amazing here.
Varun Sharma as Choocha who is one of the most loved characters in the film is hilarious here. He gets a lot of screen space with ample comical situations. Varun nails them perfectly with his amazing performance. He is sure to evoke laughter.
Pulkit Samrat and Pankaj Tripathi are very good and contribute enough with their convincing performances.
Ali Fazal and Manjot Singh have very little to do here. However, they too don’t disappoint with their performances.
Direction: Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba who has also directed the prequel packs the film with full of comical situations. The major achievement here is adequate utilisation of every actor. Lamba makes proper use of Bholi Punjaban and Choocha’s character to entertain you enough. Credit also goes to writer Vipul Vig for writing fantastic dialogues which evoke genuine laughter. Both Vipul and Mrighdeep maintain a perfect balance of the comical scenes and the portrayal of Delhi life is awesome. The movie is consistently paced which shall not bore you and entertain you to the fullest. Also, the introduction of a Tiger in the film lifts up the humour quotient.
Cinespeaks Verdict: If you enjoyed Fukrey and the Delhi charm of the movie, then ‘Fukrey Returns’ will surely entertain you enough. You can instantly connect with the character’s and their swag is just awesome. The magic and humour quotient is high as that of the prequel. So, Fukrey Returns is an amazing slice of life comedy which will give you a lot of moments to laugh your heart out. This one is a super entertaining comedy of this year.
