Zoya Akhtar is known for making some of the best films in Bollywood over the last few years and her consistency when it comes to maintaining critical and box office success has brought her to almost every actor’s ‘Favourite list of directors’.
Her film, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (2011) is considered one of the all time best movies ever made on friendship.. And in 2019,she hit the box office with ‘Gully Boy’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and Kalki Kochelin. The film was a huge success and it wasn’t just a film for the sake of it, but it also changed the way people perceived rap music in India.
And now Zoya is all set to take her film forward to present it to the Australian audience. Where? The 10th edition of the Melbourne Indian Film Festival.
Speaking about the development, Zoya said,
” It’s always great to see Indian cinema traveling and transcending across borders. As a filmmaker, it’s a very rewarding experience and more than that, it’s extremely thrilling to see the celebration of Indian films. I’m ecstatic to be invited and to be a part of IFFM 2019 in Melbourne which is a melting pot of cultures. There’s a huge Indian community in Australia and I’m looking forward to take Gully Boy to Australia for a special screening and extending a discuss on cinema with Australian audiences”.
Here’s hoping this Indian film creates a sensation like no other at the festival and once again plays a key part in bringing Indian cinema to the world forum.
