After creating the most appreciated war movies like, Border and LOC Kargil, JP Dutta is back with one more war film, Paltan. It is the story of 1967 war between India and China to retrieve Sikkim. The film has created huge buzz even before its release. Dutta’s Paltan starring Sonu Sood, Arjun Rampal, Jackie Shroff, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane, and Luv Sinha is scheduled to release on 7th of September. The film will be clashing with Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu starring Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri.
Meanwhile we spotted Harshvardhan Rane, we had an interactive session with him.
We asked him about his experience of doing a war film, after receiving huge appreciation from his last out-and-out romantic film. He says, “Working in a war film has been a desire right from the beginning. That too working in a war film directed by JP Dutta is like the cherry on the top. As soon as I was offered the film, I immediately bounced up and signed the film. I enjoyed playing war video games even now as well. And working in a war film where we were provided with real weapons and we were surrounded by the real Indian Army in the mountains of Ladakh was a huge experience. I loved shooting for the film. Moreover, my grandfather was a Colonel so I’ve spent my childhood in such an environment.
When we asked him the most difficult sequence, he revealed, “There wasn’t any difficult sequence as such. But I faced the most embarrassing moment while shooting. As we were shooting with real weapons, so there was one weapon which is named as LMG. Army people can fire that weapon only by lying down on the ground. One is not permitted to carry that weapon and use it by holding it in a hand. I wasn’t aware of the fact, and while rehearsal I picked that up and started firing. Later when Army officials came to know about it, they got offended as it was a crime. But luckily JP Dutta stood by my side and convinced them.
When we asked him about his experience collaborating with JP Dutta he said, “Everyone asks me whether JP sir is like fatherly figure to me or is he my mentor but actually he’s like a Ringmaster to me. I already knew how to roll over, JP sir moulded it in a best possible way. He informed me to jump and I literally jumped over. He asked me to hop and roll I followed. I’ve literally shed my blood in the film.” Moreover when we asked him about his future plans, he satisfyingly said, “JP Dutta has signed me for 3 more films along with Gurmeet. Its a pleasure to work with JP sir and Gurmeet. Earlier I felt that Gurmeet is such a huge celeb, he must be so arrogant. But when I met him for the first time I realized that stardust can’t affect true stars! ”
We hope that all the films do well. As of now the Defense Ministry has given a standing ovation to the film. We wish All the very best to the whole cast and crew of the film.
