This year we saw some new faces entering in Bollywood and gorgeous Tara Sutaria was one of them. After her first film Student Of The Years 2, the actress is set to release her next film in the same year. Marjaavan starring Siddharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, Riteish Deshmukh and Rakul Preet Singh is coming to theatres on 15 November 2019 but before that Tara Sutaria had some interesting facts to tell us. Read out her recent Interaction with Media..
Q. What was that appealed you to sign Marjaavan?
Tara- I was shooting for Student of the Year and i got a call so i ran across the office after shooting and Milap actually narrated it to me twice. I remember i am not an emotional kind of person but i started crying at the time when he narrated it. The Film was beautifully written and i realised my character was of a mute girl so she couldn’t speak, she could hear but she would have to learn sign language and that was something i immediately signed the film because after Student Of The Year i wanted to do something different and i think Marjaavan is the perfect film for that.
Q. What difference did you find while playing a mute girl in Marjaavan after playing a Fun girl in Student Of The Year?
Tara- Both the films are so different, there’s is no comparison between them. And that’s the fun part of being an actor that you have to jump from a fun college girl to a Zoya in Marjaavan who comes from Kashmir and doesn’t speak, she communicates through sign language so i think there was everything just different about this film.
Q. How did you prepare for the role? Did you learn it from coach or what?
Tara– I was shooting SOTY and it was a long schedule so every evening after coming home from shooting i had a Sign language coach, her name is Sangeeta. She trained actors for the Barfi as well and she used to come my home and we had 4 months of training before we started shooting Marjaavan
Q. You are a trained Singer and Dancer, are you getting opportunities of using that in Films?
Tara- I was actually meant to sing in Marjaavan but girl’s character was mute so it didn’t make sense. The next year i definitely want to release a single album. For dancing there has to be a good dance film coming my way because i really want to dance in a Film.
Q. How was it working with Sid, Riteish and Rakul?
Tara– I think everyone is so intense in thier roles but one by one shooting with them was fun. Everyone had thier fun stories so it was really fun and that’s how a film set should be otherwise it can be boring but it was super fun. We all got to know each other during shoot and as Milap likes to talk much it was really good.
Q. Milap likes a hardcore commercial zone so how much do you identify that space?
Tara– I didn’t identify the zone as much as i probably should because i didn’t grew up watching such films, i know Sid has, but at the same time it was fascinating to be a part of something you don’t know. That’s the bonus of being in this profession as this is just my 2nd film and i get to do something diametrically opposite from the first film.
Q. Your name is Tara which means A Star and you’re in Movies, is it a co-incident or what?
Tara– My parents still argue about this. My Mom hates this name, she had named something totally different and i have twin sister she named us then my dad secretly changed my name to Tara.
Q. What kind of role you want to do in Future?
Tara– In my next film i am playing a role which is totally different from Zoya. It’s something that i feel lot of people would not choose to do. It is a remake of a south indian film (RX100) so it’s very much similar to that but it is little different with lots of twists. So i think in every film i am doing different things and i really want to start singing from next year in my films.
Q. Your first film Student of the Year received mixed response from critics as well as audience so you think Marjaavan will satisfy the hunger of that content because most of the people think that an actor/actress should have that memorable film at the start of the career?
Tara– It is a different world so I don’t know whether it will satisfy the hunger of that particular audience. I really hope that Marjaavan clicks and connect with the audience and I think somewhere it has already because the music is so powerful and it worked. I hope it works because of unusual love story and most of our films are love stories, yes it is massy, yes it is commercial but it’s very unusual lovestory.
Q. What went wrong with student of the year? over expectations or what?
Tara– I don’t know what went wrong I don’t even think anything went wrong. I don’t know over expectations or what but I knew that there was a hype because of Student of the year 1st part and even I fall into that category because I was a huge fan of 1st film. There had been a constructive criticism on the film and of course we are all open for that, but I don’t know what went wrong or maybe I am too new to understand all this.
Q. Do you have any plan of doing movies outside bollywood like down south or somewhere?
Tara– Actually I was offered some lovely stories from South cinema but I had no time because this entire year i have been busy in these 2 films. But of course, I don’t think any industry is different from another so I am open for all.
Q. If given a chance to Remake a Bollywood Classic film, which one would it be for you?
Tara- You know the first Hindi film I watched was Mughal-e-Azam and I just can’t get over from the beauty of the film and the music of the film, the style and everything about it and I have a great connection with music and dance so of course Anarkali’s character.
