‘Mardaani 2’ on the cards? #CheckOut details for more!

In the year 2014, when Pradeep Sarkar came in with ‘Mardaani’ featuring Rani Mukherji in the lead, ‘women-centric’ fms received a new direction in the Indian Film Industry.

No, we aren’t endorsing the fact that there weren’t any women centric films before ‘Mardaani’ in India. But ‘Mardaani’ surely managed to pave the way for more such similar content and also gave Bollywood a happy realization that roles for women can be written in Bollywood in this manner as well which can work at the Box Office too.

Rani aced her character of Sub Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy to perfection and motivated lot of women to learn to take a stand for themselves the right way. The movie was a hit and also brought Rani Mukherji back in the hunt which was the most important thing.

5 years down the line, ‘Mardaani’ is coming up with its sequel, ‘Mardaani 2’ and it will be helmed by Gopi Puthran, the writer of the first part.

In a statement given to the media on the subject, Puthran explained –

“It’s an intense one-month long schedule in Rajasthan which forms the backdrop to the story of Mardaani 2. Rani’s investigation will take her to Jaipur and Kota. Given that we are shooting in peak summer of Rajasthan, it will be physically demanding because Rani will be doing action sequences too. The entire team is thrilled to be shooting in the beautiful state of Rajasthan and we are looking forward to the love and cooperation from the people.”

Well Rani’s last outing at the Box Office, ‘Hichki’ wasn’t a big hit. We at CineSpeaks sincerely wish Rani and team good luck so that ‘Mardaani 2’ becomes an even bigger hit than ‘Mardaani’.
