Unfortunately on 22 August 2006, Sandeep was shot at his back while on his way to join National team due to leave for the world cup. Medically, his lower half was paralyzed. But his will power did not fade away. After getting left out by his love and nation, Sandeep decides to get fit and play for India once again. He has a huge support from his elder brother, Bikramjeet Singh and his entire family. Sandeep after 6 months of hard work and dedication gets back to his feet. He once again starts playing Hockey under the training of his coach, Harry. He took over as the Captain of Indian Hockey Team January 2009. Under his captaincy the Indian team managed to clinch the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2009 after defeating Malaysia in the finals at Ipoh. India won the title after a long wait of 13 years. Singh was also the top goal scorer of the tournament.

Diljit Dosanjh:
Playing the lead Character of Sandeep Singh, Diljit has made his Bollywood debut. Making a Bollywood debut with a biopic is not everyone’s cup of tea. But this young talent has not only made it worth watching but also made complete justice to the character of living legend. In an interview with us Diljit expressed that he doesn’t know any of the sports games. He learnt hockey just for this film. Infact Sandeep Singh himself trained him. The on-field scenes were just mind blowing. At certain point viewers will get confused whether the player is an actor or a sports person himself. The emotional scenes were impressive. The aggression which director wanted to showcase was performed amazingly. In short he has done really great job. This young talent has a long way to go and we wish him All the best!

Tapsee Pannu: Tapsee has already gathered large amount of fame with help of her previous movies like Pink and Judwaa 2. She is ready to impress her fans once more with this movie. Tapsee don’t have a huge screen space but she still managed to mark her presence in the movie. She has also learnt hockey and she loves sports so it was a great opportunity for her. The on field scenes were just fantastic! The way both young lads performed will definitely win millions of hearts.

Angad Bedi: Playing the role of Bikramjeet Singh, elder brother of Sandeep, he has done well. The way he expressed his concern towards his younger brother in the film deserves huge appreciation. In Sandeep’s life, his brother was everything to him. And playing such role is never an easy job but Angad accomplished it.

Vijay Raaz: Playing the character of Harry, Coach of Indian Hockey team, who trained Sandeep throughout. Vijay adds the comical touch to make his role more valuable. He delivered few iconic dialogues which will make the viewers laugh out louder.
Overall whole cast performed really amazing.

Direction: Shaad Ali has gave several movies like Ok Jaanu, Kill Dill, Bunty Aur Babli, etc. Shaad Ali’s Soorma gathered the buzz right from the trailer launch. The movie is all set to hit the screens and we hop that audience will appreciate it. The direction was good. The first half could have been better. The accident scene was not given much importance. Anyways the second half was amazing. Dialogues were really magnificent and attractive. The only thing which went missing was the conclusion of Harpreet was not done properly. The acceptance or rejection was not clearly justified . Throughout the movie was great and is worth watching. We expect more such films from him.

Songs and Background score:
There are three songs in total. It is sung by the lead actor and singer, Diljit himself. Just like his acting his song is also melodious. He is truly all-rounder. Background of the movie is really inspiring and motivating. The songs are full of enthusiasm.

Cinespeaks hence loves to give 4 stars to this amazing biopic
