In September 2018, when Tanushree Dutta first accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of inappropriate and unprofessional behavioral with a sexual intent behind it, Bollywood came to a shock.
Many questions were raised and many speculations were raised as to why this accusation suddenly after 10 years amd what not. Unfortunately what people mainly resorted to was ‘victim shaming’. But what followed soon after was exactly the call of the hour, many women coming forward to narrate their cases and experiences of sexual harassment and misconduct faced by Bollywood biggies.
Many big names apart from Nana Patekar came forward. The likes of Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor, Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl etc came forward from the film industry.
The first one to get a clean chit was Vikas Bahl and henceforth he had to be given the credit of ‘Director’ for Hrithik Roshan’s next titled, ‘Super 30’.
And now, the biggest development is that veteran actor Nana Patekar, the first one to be accused from Bollywood for the #MeToo Movement has been given clean chit due to ‘lack of evidence’.
This definitely didn’t go down will with Tanushree and all the other women who thought they would get ‘justice’ for coming forward to narrate the cases of misogyny in this man’s world. But seems like they have been let down by the court.
Tanushree cried foul naturally in this case and expressed her disappointment saying, ‘Inki clean chit ki koi aukaat nahi hai’.
Well what remains to be seen now is whether Tanushree will take the case and challenge the decision in a higher court or let it go.
