Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui who is known for his brilliant acting chops will reportedly join director Kabir Khan in 83. The film which is set against the backdrop of 1983 World Cup will see Nawazuddin essaying the role of a coach in the film. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Kapil Dev and the film is expected to go on floors soon.
Kabir Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui had earlier collaborated together for the highly successful film of 2015 – Bajrangi Bhaijaan where Nawazuddin essayed the character of a reporter.
The actor is currently in talks with the filmmaker and sources say that the actor may give his nod. This will be the first time where actor Ranveer Singh will be sharing screen space with the critically acclaimed Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
While speaking to a leasing daily on 83, filmmaker Kabir Khan had earlier said, “I had no idea then that from that day on cricket in India would change forever. As a filmmaker, the journey to that win, filled with the raw energy and sheer passion of a young Indian team, is probably one of the most exciting stories I have worked on. It’s great to have Ranveer come on board as Kapil Dev, as honestly, I could see no one else in the role since I started working on the script.”
The film is scheduled to release next year in August.
