Imitiaz Ali is that one director who has set a benchmark for himself over the years in the industry. He is one who sells dreams. Be it “Highway”, “Tamasha” or “Jab We Met”, he presents the complexities of life and surreal experiences with dreamy and surreal characters. And with his latest offering “Jab Harry Met Sejal”, the director takes you on an unexplored trip.

Harinder Singh Nehra aka Harry is a tourist guide whose personal and professional life is in doldrums. He indulges in frequent in and out of relationships and ultimately becomes a part of a crowd until a tourist Sejal Jhaveri aka Anushka Sharma, a chatty Gujarati girl bumps into him and stays behind the trip to find her lost engagement ring.

The director who has been enthralling the audiences with his dreamy sequences, has served a perfect love story on the platter. His movies compel the audiences to ponder over it. He is the one that sells dreams and hoodwinks people leaving them intoxicated.

Coming to the performances, Shah Rukh Khan, is one actor who romanticizes anything. “. Shah Rukh Khan (Harinder Singh Nehra) , as a Punjabi cakewalks the role. His good looks and endearing persona leave everyone mesmerized . His character has numerous Rahuls and you will see his quintessential romantic hero Raj Malhotra. Anushka Sharma, who is vibrant and enthusiastic in real life has brought that to the screen . She as Sejal nails every bit of her character and has proved her versatility as an actress. From “Rab Ne Bana Jodi” to “Phillauri”, Anushka Sharma has come long way as an actress. And with this movie, she has only added another feather to her cap. Right from the accent to the body language, she is bang on as a typical Gujjju girl who addresses Harry as “Hairy”.

Though the film has a weak story line, Imitiaz Ali saved the film with his excellent execution. Also the lead actors steal the show and leave no stone unturned to keep the audiences hooked to their seats. Shah Rukh Khan and his rendezvous with Anushka Sharma takes you to into their wonderland. The expressions do the maximum talking . They are at their candid best.

The background score, music of the film is average. The first half of the film is layered but as the film progresses, the second half will leave you bewildered at some points. It has the essence of “Jab we met” and “Dil wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”. The film could have been better had the director introduced a few more characters in the movie. The repetition of scenes were the loopholes in the film. Many scenes in the first and second half.

Hawayein, the soulful song voiced by Arijit Singh scores the points and like everytime . Pritam once again brings in lilting music. Also one can tour the world with the picturesque locations shown in the film. One can surely watch the film for AnushkaSharma. Shah Rukh Khan as an actor needs more different scripts. All in all the film is a one time watch.
