Richa Chadda who is known for her best performances in film’s like Sarbjit and Masaan is all set to feature in an upcoming Bollywood comedy film Fukrey Returns. The film is a sequel to the 2013 sleeper hit Fukrey and Richa will be seen reprising her role of Bholi Punjaban in the film. The film also features a starcast of actors Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi. Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Fukrey Returns is scheduled to release on December 8.
In an interview with Cinespeaks, Richa speaks about the film.
Q: How was it to reprise the role of Bholi Punjaban?
Richa: It was amazing. She is a total badass. She is the leader of the house. I really like this character and I loved playing it once again. Bholi Punjaban is very different from me. She is very mean and I am a non violent person by nature. I follow Gandhiji’s principles. When Fukrey released, I was a newbie in the industry and the audience watched the film without any expectations. Post the release, I was really surprised with the reaction of the audience. The film was released once again in Delhi on public demand and was profitable at the Box-Office too. So, I was really amazed by the response for Fukrey.
Q: Are you worried for the release of the film?
Richa: I am very much confident about the film and so is our whole team. Excel Entertainment is my favourite production house because they really respect an actor and treats him/her very well. Our marketing team is very confident about the film. The film is a sequel in real sense. It exemplifies the definition of a sequel.
Q: How was the experience of promoting the film in Delhi?
Richa: Excel has an innovative way of promoting and marketing films. They come up with very good ideas and which are in sync with the theme of the film. We went to Fukra spots in Delhi and interacted with the people. We travelled in the metro too. The film is about middle class humour and sensibilities. So, we were very much in track with it. As actors, we too were passionate and enjoyed the promotional campaigns.
Q: Tell us something about the role of the Tiger in the film?
Richa: Tiger is like my pet in the film. He is like my companion. You will get to know about it when you will watch the film. I cannot reveal the reason of including the Tiger in the film. It is a surprise for the audience.
Q: Post Fukrey Returns, what are your upcoming projects?
Richa: I have three films releasing early next year. Aur Devdas will release soon. Excel Entertainment’s film Three Storeys is also lined up. My international film titled Love Sonia will also hit the theatres. Post the release of these films, I will start shooting for Inside Edge.
Q: Any plans of venturing into direction?
Richa: Direction is s tough task. A director has to keep an eye on everything – dubbing, music, editing, sound. I cannot see myself directing a film. I can write and produce films.
Q: Any particular genre you prefer working in?
Richa: I would love to do comedies. I like the middle class humour of comical films. I hope I can find more opportunities for comedy films.
