‘Bhoomi’, starring Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari, is an intriguing tale. From what we see in the trailer, it is the story of father and daughter wronged. This being the first film for Dutt in a long time, he seems to have been very particular in his tastes.
The film contains, like many others, an item song – ‘Trippy, Trippy’. It stars Sunny Leone, who shows off some great moves. It is a catchy song and is already climbing the local music charts.
However, Mr. Dutt did not want the song to make the final cut. He was heard saying it was vulgar and had a few ‘bold scenes’. Now, the history of item songs in films is a little tricky. Directors have tried to justify it and make it seem like it was ‘important to the story’.
Yet, in this case, it seems that the song was ‘situational’, as the director said. Mr. Omung Kumar, who has directed well received films like Mary Kom, defended the inclusion, saying that the film demanded it.
