Mumbai’s musical nights were livened up with a night dedicated to the swinging sixties. Presented by Showhouse, Gary Lawyer, one of India’s most iconic artists, enthralled audiences and received a standing ovation in a spectacular live concert at the Tata Theatre, NCPA.
Known as the man with a golden voice, Gary Lawyer paid a wonderful tribute to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Sammy Davis Jr., Gary Lawyer got audiences nostalgic about the golden period of swing and jazz. There was a lot of foot tapping and swaying as the audiences demanded an encore.
Showhouse MD Omer Haider says, “It was fantastic to see people from different age groups enjoy the music of legends like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Gary was phenomenal with the way he made people swing with his music.”
Gary Lawyer is one of the best jazz talents that India has ever produced. Gary has been performing for decades in India and in America. His talent has won him acclaim and several fans clamoring for his feet tapping music. He has even been nominated by the Government of India to perform in the Festival of Russia. Gary has opened performances for international artists like Bryan Adams and Def Leppard, to name a few. His album, The Other Side of Dawn, catapulted him to fame in America. In 2007, Record Label EMI India has launched a collection of his songs, some of which had not been released.
