This morning Supreme Court chose Freedom of Expression over resentment condemning and tarnishing the ban on ‘Padmaavat’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in four major states, namely, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan & Haryana.
The film which was initially due to released on 1st December is finally releasing on 25th January all over India with the official consent of the government officials with 5 cuts and a title change as opposed to the previous title ‘Padmavati’. This ‘uncalled for’ ban had come from these four states despite being cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). With the harassment that the film has been facing due to the aggression from the Rajput Karni Sena, there were actual threats of jowhar to be performed by Rajput women if the film releases.
But looks like SC is in no mood to delay the film any further & the audiences can Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor & Rajveer Singh in this period drama which is set to clash with R. Balki’s ‘Padman’ starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte.
