As International Women’s Day is around the corner actor Hrishikesh Pandey talks about how women need to be stop being treated as the weaker sex. The actor adds that women empowerment can only progress once women are treated equal to men. “Now everyone talks about women empowerment but at the end of the day, I think that it has to come from within you. We have to treat everyone as equal. Many times, we hear that women get special reservations in colleges, schools, and the parliament. This is the main problem. The moment we have this in mind that this is the sex for which everything has to be done separately, we’re differentiating between male and female,” he says.
The actor says that women are no less than men in any way. “We have to keep in mind that they’re not the weaker section of society. They’re not weak in anything as they’ve been working, fighting, excelling in sports, and taking equal part in everything, so how can they be weak. They’re not weak at all. The moment we stop thinking that they’re weak or different, things will change for the better,” he says.
Hrishikesh adds that this transformation needs to start from one’s families and spread outward. “If parents start treating their sons and daughters equally only then change will start. We’ve to first change our mindset, as we feel that boys can do everything but girls can’t, which is not true at all. In today’s world girls can do anything and everything that boys do. The moment we change our mindset, everything will change. I really feel and think that now slowly changes have started taking place, but we still have a really long way to go. It can only happen through education,” he says.
