The genre of the story does not matter to me: Raju Hirani

Acclaimed filmmaker Raju Hirani who is known for making some of the most entertaining blockbusters in the country from ‘3 Idiots’ to ‘PK’ and ‘Sanju’ is one of the jurors of one of the India’s Biggest Script Contest – Cinestaan India’s Storytellers Script Contest. Elaborating on whether he would like to see more of a specific genre of stories, he asserts that the genre is not important for him.

Raju Hirani says, “A story should be entertaining and engaging, if you want to make me laugh with your stories, then make me laugh, if you want to scare me then scare me if you want to make me cry, then make me cry with your stories. The genre of the script or the story doesn’t matter.”

The first edition of the contest received an overwhelming response and Aamir Khan and other jury members recently awarded the first prize winner, a cheque of of Rs.25 lakhs. The second edition of the script contest has already begun.
