Anupam Kher’s ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has been receiving a mixed response from the audience so far. Although the movie faced a lot of criticism from the Congress party before the release which made the film come in news for all the wrong reasons, the film managed to earn more than 4.5 crores on Day 1 to start with compare to Uri’s collection of more than 7 crores on the opening day, both having released on the same day.
However what is to be noted here is the fact that ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has been subjected to violence and hostility which has surely affected it’s collections to some extent. Reports emerged of how a group of Congress goons vandalized and attacked an Inox Multiplex in Kolkata in it’s famous Quest Mall where the movie buffs were made to vacate the theatres.. This led to cancellation of many shows in the city in various other places as well due to the fear instilled by these Congress goons.
But irrespective of any violence, the only thing that matters is that people are liking the film not just for what the film looks like but because of the grit and courage the team has shown to make a film like this for the first time where not a single name has been changed. Some call it factual while some call it propaganda.. But what matters is how the public is receptive to the movie and it seems like a ‘so far so sood’ situation for ‘TAPM’.
However not taking the protests lightly, Anupam Kher posted a video which sends a strong message to the ones who are trying to tamper with the success and reception of the film. He tweeted –
Dear team of #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister team!I am on my way to NY to continue shooting for @NBCNewAmsterdam, but I am with you always. I am very happy & proud to be part of a path breaking film. Love to all and go for it aggressively. Courage is infectious.🙏😍 @TAPMofficial
Kher is currently on his way to New York where he resumes work for ‘New Amsterdam’ shortly.
