Texas is replaced by Assam in the 1950s where our intriguing characters come to life:
Arjun Singh Thakur (Varun Pande who plays Rock Hudson’s character) is the pride of Assam and the heir to the 5,000 acre Thakur tea plantation estate in the newly Independent India. He is steadfast & rooted in his tradition and heritage.
Gayatri Arjun Singh Thakur (Tirrtha Murbadkar who plays Elizabeth Taylor’s character) who has been brought up in Calcutta, the hub of literature and politics, is now the new Thakurain of Assam. She’s fierce, outspoken, feisty, and beautiful.
Eklavya Rajkhowa (Mikhael Kantroo who plays James Dean’s character) is an orphaned worker at the Thakur Estate who is considered manipulative by some and worthless by others, until one day, things turn in his favour.
What do the changing tides of time & fortune have in store for our leads & their families over 25 years? Watch the saga unfold in this grandeur complete with live musicians & dancers leading the story forward in an entertaining drama that for the entire family.
Actor and producer Mikhael Kantroo says, “This production house has been set up in honour of my father to remind me of my responsibility towards the content we produce & GIANT is a shining example of that.”
About his character, he explains, “As an eleven-year-old, I watched James Dean for the first time and I was deeply affected. I enact this character for all the eleven-year-olds out there who would resonate with Eklavya Rajkhowa just like I did.”
Elaborating further, he adds, “The credit for the make-up & styling of Eklavya goes to my team, namely Anam, Harshad, Shan, & Naima. I concentrated more on his internal world which is drastically different from mine. I tapped into the dark side of myself to ensure he doesn’t come across as a Marvel villain.”
GIANT is an adaptation of the 1956 Hollywood film of the same name starring Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, & James Dean which is based on the novel by Edna Ferber.
