Q: How did you get this role?
Sharman: As an actor, I always want to explore various genres. I feel I have done enough roles which include the normal song and dance routine. This film is something very different and erotic in a sense.
Q : Have you seen the earlier parts?
Sharman: Hate Story is a franchise, wherein the characters keep coming in a different form. Both the earlier instalments had different stories, setup etc and weren’t linked with each other in any way. I haven’t seen either of the earlier parts of the Hate Story franchise as this instalment is totally and completely different from the previous ones.
Q : How was the experience of working with your co-stars?
Sharman : It was great working with Daisy, Karan and Zarine. They are extremely professional and it was very comfortable working with them. They are highly enthusiastic towards their craft and are positive people.
Q : Tell us something about your character in this film.
Sharman : I play the role of an industrialist who is deeply in love with his wife.
Q : How important is box-office numbers for you?
Sharman : Box-office definitely matters to every film. When films are made on a heavy budget, a lot of money goes into with efforts and hard work. So, the film should recover business at the box-office so that next film can be made.
Q : How did you find Vishal as a director?
Sharman : Vishal is a director with a clear and a focused vision. He made the film very clear in his mind and executed in a brilliant way. The film went very smoothly and there was some sort of ease while shooting.
Q : Are you nervous for the release of the film?
Sharman : The only thing which made me worry were the erotic sequences as to how the audience will respond. The trailer is out now and we have received a lot of appreciation and the response has been overwhelmingly high.
Q: Any song in particular you would like to recreate?
Sharman: I would like to recreate the song ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh’.
Q: What are your upcoming projects?
Sharman: I have a film called 1920 London, which is a supernatural thriller written by Vikram Bhatt which shall release early next year. I have also done a film called Three Stories which shall too release next year. There is also one English film which will be screened at international film festivals and later possibly make its way in India.
Q: How did you find Amaal Malik and Armaan Malik for the music of the movie?
Sharman: Both the brothers have done a brilliant job and I feel that their voice suits me properly. It’s great that Vishal brought them on board. I really feel that the duo will make wonderful music in the coming days.
Q : How has been your journey so far since you have completed 16 years in Bollywood?
Sharman : My journey has been pretty exciting. In my opinion, I feel that my journey has been always going upward in terms of career graph. I am happy doing the kind of work I had always wanted to do. I have been part of 2 landmark films in Hindi cinema, namely Rang De Basanti and 3 Idiots. I hope to do more such work and at least be a part of 2 more landmark films in the coming future.
