IFTDA conducts its 19th Masterclass with Sriram Raghavan, pays tribute to Goldie Anand

The 19th IFTDA Masterclass was indeed special. It not only played host to master director Sriram Raghavan who is still basking the glory for his last release Andhadhun but also paid tribute to legendary Vijay Anand known for classics like Guide, Tere Ghar Ke Saamne, Blackmail, Teesri Manzil and Jewel Thief to name a few. The film that was much appreciated by critics and audiences alike, has become a case study in itself. Filmmaker Saurabh Varma moderated the session and spoke to Raghavan on his journey as a screenwriter and director from Raman Raghav and Ek Hasina Thi to Andhadhun.

Raghavan spoke about how he started his journey as a journalist and went on to assist on few films before joining a film institute. He also spoke about his titles, how he decides his cast and the process of developing a film script.

With a house full of the auditorium, the session was attended by Filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar, Kuku Kohli, Swapna Waghmare Joshi along with students of filmmaking and people working in the Film and Television industry.

When asked about who all are his inspirations, Raghavan said, “so many filmmakers…Goldie Anand, Alfred Hitchcock and Producer B P Singh of CID fame. Also, so many people who I have not met but grew up on their films. I can write a whole list of people actually.”

IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association) also honoured Filmmakers for their successful films. While filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar felicitated Vivek Agnihotri for his Hindi film Tashkent Files and Shrabani Deodhar for her Marathi film Mogra Phulaalaa, Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan felicitated Vipul Mehta for his Gujarati film Chaal Jeevi Laiye and Jagdeep Sidhu for his Punjabi film Shadaa.
