Armaan Malik :- “Sonu Nigam is my biggest inspiration”.
In an Exclusive interview with Cinespeaks, Singer Armaan Malik speaks in reference to the recreated version of the melodious track from the 90’s called ‘Tumhe Apna Banane Ki Kasam’. The song is in the film ‘Hate Story 3’ which is ready to release on the 4th of December 2015.
Q : How did you come up with the idea of recreating the song ?
Armaan : The whole idea basically comes out from the Hate Story franchise. Hate Story 2 had a recreated track called ‘Aaj Phir Tumpe Pyaar Aaya’ which was quite popular and rage at that time. So, we wanted to recreate one more track which could fit into the today’s generation and ‘Tumhe Apna Banane Ki Kasam’ happened as Bhushanji wanted. The song is entirely recreated by capturing the essence and putting it up in a completely different way.
Q : Which song do you personally like then : older or newer ?
Armaan : I personally being a person of today’s era like the new recreated version. Both the tracks have the same melody and tune, but the older version is still a gem today. It was one of the Chartbuster in those days, but there are so many compliments flowing in for this recreated version.
Q : How has been your journey in the industry so far starting from Jai Ho ?
Armaan: It’s really been brilliant. When I started my career with Jai Ho, I was just around 17-18 years and presently am 20. So, with each song passing by I have explored myself with my voice and have shown different facets to the audience. I feel that my voice has become more matured with each song passing by.
Q : How was the experience of working with Salman Khan ?
Armaan : It’s hard to explain, but Salman sir is a great mentor. He is basically like a teacher and also shouts at us whenever we go wrong somewhere. I had always been very close to him and its great that I, Sooraj, Athiya and Daisy have started our careers with him as our mentor.
Q : Any particular song you would want to recreate ?
Armaan : I feel that in the coming 7-8 years ‘Tum Hi Ho’ will be recreated and I would love to do that.
Q : Any plans of venturing into acting ?
Armaan : I don’t feel much about acting, but presently I want to keep myself focused towards singing. I have undergone a lot of training in the field of singing and that is why I want to focus on singing. When I turn 27-28 maybe that time I can think of taking the decision of acting. I relate more myself with singing rather than acting.
Q : Any other song which you have sung in this film ?
Armaan : I have one more song which is not yet released, but ‘ Tumhe Apna Banane Ki Kasam’ is my main song.
Q : Who is your inspiration in the field of singing ?
Armaan : Sonu Nigam is a great singer and I took singing just because of him. His advice and guidance always matter to me. Whenever any of my songs get released I definitely make sure and send him the link prior to the release. Besides him, I also look up to Kishore Kumar also.
Q : Any actor you want to sing for in particular ?
Armaan : I would want to sing for Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra. I feel since they are fresh and young my voice would suit perfectly for them.
Q : When can we see you collaborating with Anu Malik ?
Armaan : I really don’t know whether it will happen. Anu is more of a single composer, but I and Amal will definitely collaborate with many more tracks.
Q : What are upcoming songs ?
Armaan : I have my own single coming up very soon which I can’t talk about it right now since it is going to be very special. I have quite a couple of songs coming up with Mika Singh in ‘Mastizaade’ and Shankar Ehsaan Loy as well. I am also singing for Ghayal and there are several other tracks with Amal.
